Transformers 2 schedule on June 29th 2009

Paramount Pictures has apparently set June 29th 2009 as the official release date for Transformers 2, according to BoxOfficeMojo.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay have signed with DreamWorks to make Transformers 2, which will hit theaters in Summer 2009. However, Michael Bay wrote last week on his blog that he might be “jump ship” to make a pre-strike movie. If Bay gets involved in a big budget picture like Disney’s Prince of Persia, who knows when Bay would be available for a Transformers sequel.

It took a little longer than 12 months to make the first film (pre-production to completion), and that probably involved a longer pre-production process (due to initial concepts and designs). So for Transformers 2 to hit screens in July of 2009, the film would need to begin production by Fall 2008. And if Bay were to make a pre-strike movie, that is the date he would need to be free by.

Transformers Box Office Roars!

For Independence Day weekend, Hollywood's latest apocalyptic is one of the fastest-grossing starts on record for a non-sequel.
Rolling out on approximately 7,600 screens at 4,011 theaters, Transformers waged $146.6 million in its first six days, not including $8.8 million from Monday night previews which brings the tally to $155.4 million. That was enough to place DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures' $150 million robo-spectacle seventh among the highest-grossing six-day starts of all time, edging out the first Spider-Man as highest among non-sequels. Additionally, Transformers handily scored two minor records: biggest Tuesday daily gross with its $27.9 million opening day and top July 4th gross with Wednesday's $29.1 million.

For the weekend, Transformers racked up $70.5 million, ranking as the second-highest grossing Independence Day opening weekend behind Spider-Man 2's $88.2 million and 23rd best among all movies.

Early Box Office: Transformers Grabs $38 Million in First 28-Hours

The Tuesday night (3rd July 07) box office estimates are in, and FM’s Steve Mason reports that Transformers took in an estimated $29.5 million. This means that Michael Bay’s new film is now holds the record of the biggest Tuesday opening of all time, easily surpassing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest [$15.7M]. It’s likely that this will become the 4th-best opening day of 2007 (behind only Spidey, Pirates and Shrek). You add the $8 million that the Tuesday night screenings brought in, and you get a 28-hour number of $38 million. Not bad at all. The film seems to be maintaining a good buzz and is likely to make $140-$150 million in its first 7 days.

Did Michael Bay Recycle Pearl Harbor Footage into Transformers?

Transformers

Pearl Harbor

How do you make a huge blockbuster summer action flick for only $150 million? You cut costs in every area you can. You might recognize one or two of the shots from Transformers, because it’s likely that Michael Bay recycled them from his other films. Why spend a boat load (pun intended) of cash for a shot of an aircraft carrier if you already have one in the avid editing bay?

The shot above was captured from the high definition version of the Transformers trailer (as we don’t have access to a film print). The photo below is from Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor. Okay, so they aren’t completely identical. The contrast and saturation are changed, and oh yeah, there are fighter jets on the aircraft carrier. May-be those were computer created?

The above was CG due to trying to make a copy of USS HORNET for the Pearl Harbor movie along with adding the B-25 removing all radar and communications from the mast and changing the lighting to bland the details of the hull to make the shot less obvious that it was a modern carrier.

Hasbro Ultimate Bumblebee Figure

Hi-resolution images of Transformers Ultimate Bumblebee figure in and out-of-package. These images give a really good look at the detail that has gone into this immense figure.

"He’s far more than meets the eye! The 14-inch tall animatronic Bumblebee robot transforms into a 2008 Camaro with lights and sounds. With the touch of a button, robotic Bumblebee comes to “life” with speech and music – featuring Devo’s “Whip It”, battle and conversion sounds and animated head, arms and wings. Bumblebee’s sound detection capabilities enable him to respond to noise, and he can also aim and fire a missile."

Transformers Characters Then and Now

In the upcoming 2007 Transformers film, Optimus Prime will be present as Autobot leader. Prime now transforms into a conventional Peterbilt cab (akin to his Laser Rod incarnation), rather than cab over design of his original Generation 1 body. In a move that has proven rather controversial among some fans, Prime's vehicle mode is now decorated with red flames painted onto a blue body, apparently as a means of incorporating both his classic colors while retaining a realistic color layout to the truck mode.

Although heavily redesigned like the other characters in the film, some classic design elements remain in his robot mode, including a predominantly red torso, primarily blue legs, the presence of windows in his chest, air filters on his shoulders, and a head design influenced by the original, featuring the iconic faceplate and antennae. An internet leaked unfinished television advertisment shows that the faceplate retracts to expose a mouth when Prime speaks. It was publicly announced at San Diego ComicCon 06 that original Optimus Prime voice actor Peter Cullen will return to the role for the film.

The apparent explanation for the departure from his gun form is that director Michael Bay does not want to include any sort of size changing in the transformations, with the writers describing it as cheating. The Sector 7 website, part of the Transformers movie advertising campaign, released an email on March 23 that indicates that actor Hugo Weaving has been cast as the voice of Megatron.

He appears very bio-mechanical. Nonetheless, he is still silver, has a helmet, heavily built shoulders and large legs, characteristics that some might say faintly mirror the G1 look. Producer Don Murphy noted in a recent interview that Megatron's head design has been changed, [8] and recently leaked images of Megatron's "Battle Mode" shows him to have a helmet, as the G1 Megatron did: likewise, recently leaked concept art proves that one of Megatron's arms does indeed turn into a cannon, helping keep some semblance to his original G1 form [9]. It is also revealed in the recent third trailer that Megatron has his flail, as seen in the G1 cartoon.

Sexy female cast Megan Fox

Megan is featured in June edition of Maxim. Megan exploded onto our radar in 2004, catfighting with a pre-rehab Lindsay Lohan in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Now the saucy southern girl can put some of that training to use as she heads into battle with deadly robots in this summer's mega-blockbuster Transformers. Now that she's morphed from teen sensation to bona fide Hollywood hottie, maybe she can convince director Michael Bay to stop timing his movies with an Advent calendar.

Transformers Robots Images

These hi res pictures can be seen in most of the movie merchandises. Their vehicle mode is excellent but their robot modes still look very alien to me. Lots of complex mechanical parts.
Really impressed by the details and transformation. Hope that the movie will become an instant hit and create a worldwide interest in TF. Maybe we will be able to see part 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
Definitely it will be as popular as STAR WARS!!!
